I found my solution when I started asking questions and talking to the staff at Treasure Valley Midwives. I had a lot of questions about delivering a baby outside of a hospital. I had other concerns about how I could possibly deliver a baby without medical intervention. I can honestly say that by the time my due date rolled around I was actually looking forward to experiencing childbirth. And I was not disappointed.

The women who helped me deliver my baby were very competent and compassionate. I felt very safe in their care. I have always felt like as long as the baby arrives safe and sound, it doesn't matter how it got here. However, since I have experienced natural childbirth in a relaxed, comfortable setting where my comfort level was the most important thing, I now advocate that the ideal situation in bringing forth new life is best done in the hands of caring, compassionate and competent midwives. Every time I think back to my experience of natural childbirth at the Treasure Valley Midwives birthing center, I feel the same sense of amazement and gratitude as I did the day I had my baby there. Having a baby 100% natural is not like having a baby with an epidural. The experience is different. The love the parents feel for the new life is the same, but the process of bringing that new life into this world is more fulfilling when experienced the way God intended it to be.

I never thought I could do it without an epidural. I always thought that was for the older generation, i.e., my mother and grandmothers. But something changed inside of me when I found out I was expecting my 4th child. Maybe it was a realization this may be my last pregnancy. Maybe it was the thought of laying in an uncomfortable hospital bed for 2 days. So I set out on a journey of finding a new way.

Treasure Valley Midwives is an amazing group of women who make the experience of childbirth family-friendly and exciting. The loving and attentive care we received with the births of our children is something that I think every family would benefit from. The journey from pregnancy to birth is a total family affair, and the women at TVM really keep that in perspective. They have struck a perfect chord by being able to provide professional, first-rate medical care and still maintain a stress-free and casual environment that is essential to experiencing childbirth as the natural process that it is. I was never seen as a "patient" with a "condition" that was worrisome. I would recommend TVM to anyone who wants to experience a joyful and memorable birth in the hands of highly skilled midwives.
