Breastfeeding Support

It is our desire to provide you with plenty of breastfeeding support. Our staff includes Erin McCarter, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and RN. Your care includes a home visit with a breastfeeding focus. Erin is also available for additional breastfeeding consultation during her clinic hours at the birth center. Please refer to the fee schedule for pricing. Families with the following concerns can benefit from a Lactation Consult: Sore or damaged nipples, a baby who wants to "eat all the time," concerns with low milk supply, history of breast surgery, a slow to gain baby, a near term baby (36-38 weeks), a baby that had been in the NICU, and twins. Both prenatal and postpartum consultations are offered.

Erin McCarter, BSN, RN, IBCLC graduated from University of Washington School of Nursing in 2002 and became a board certified Lacation Consultant in 2007. Prior to joining Treasure Valley Midwives she worked at St Alphonsus Regional Medical Center as a labor, delivery and postpartum nurse and lactation consultant. She has experience with the more common difficulties, as well as special cases such as an infant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, breastfeeding multiples, history of breast surgery, and oral defects. Erin has two children, one born at a birth center and one born at home.
